Frequently Asked Questions
-
1. Can I use Halo in any machine?
Halo is compatible with your Nespresso®️ Original Home systems. It is NOT compatible with Nespresso®️ Vertuoline, Nespresso®️ Professional, Keurig, Tassimo, Dolce Gusto or Lavazza systems. Please email customer@halo.coffee if you have any compatibility questions.
-
2. How do I store Halo capsules?
We recommend an airtight, sealed container. Or you can leave them in the box. Just be sure to store your capsules in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
-
3. What is the Halo shelf life (+ can I still drink it)?
Halo coffee is a fresh product. It comes in a sealed box to prolong its life; once that box is opened we recommend you consume your coffee within 3 weeks. You can still drink it after that time, but the flavour will be at its best within the recommended time.
-
4. How do I prepare a lungo?
Our current range of coffees make a perfect single espresso, but you can also use our pods with the lungo setting on your machine. If you prefer a more full-bodied lungo, you use two capsules on the espresso setting to make your perfect cup.
-
5. My capsule is stuck in the machine
Once you use the capsule we recommend you immediately eject it from the machine, as suggested in your machine's operating instructions. The Halo capsules are made of completely organic, compostable components and therefore may expand slightly when exposed to water or pressure. If the capsule does become stuck, simply use the back of a teaspoon to release.
-
6. What do I do with used capsules?
Our Halo coffee pods are home compostable and conform to the EN13432 standard so it doesn’t matter where you throw them as they will naturally compost within 4 weeks, depending on atmospheric conditions, whether it be in your home compost bin or landfill. If you are feeling especially green, try planting some strawberry seeds into your Halo and put it into a plant pot or your garden as it’s a great natural fertiliser.
-
7. Can I recycle the packaging?
It would have been no use designing the world’s most sustainable coffee capsules if we then wrapped them in layers of toxic materials. So, we didn’t. When your order arrives, you can recycle the outer postal box. Then, when you’re done with everything else – the outer oxygen barrier wrap, Halo box, insert and sticky label can either be thrown in the compost with your used capsules or thrown into the recycling bin.
-
8. Can I order from outside the UK?
Yes. We have international shipping options available at checkout and accept most debit/credit cards, PayPal and Apple Pay.
-
9. What if I'm not happy with my Halo capsules?
Please reach out to customer@halo.coffee, quoting your order number and reason for your concern.
-
10. Will I lose my Nespresso® machine warranty if I use Halo capsules?
No. The manufacturer cannot, under any circumstances, refuse to provide services under your machine's warranty. If your warranty is refused, contact us at hello@halo.coffee.
-
11. Will my order fit through my letterbox?
Yes. We have designed our boxes to fit through a standard letterbox, so you don’t need to be in when your order arrives.
-
12. Can I get my business on board?
Subscriptions for businesses are available. Get in touch if you think we're right for your company by emailing business@halo.coffee.
-
13. Why are there restrictions to my basket size?
Halo coffee is a fresh product. Our capsules don’t last forever, because we don’t want them to. We designed them to break down naturally. Once the oxygen wrap is opened, the flavour is much better within 3 weeks. So if you want a good stock, you might want to check out our subscription options instead of buying bulk.
We also never want to compromise on bringing you coffee in a way that’s best for the world. And sending empty space through the post isn’t. At the moment we haven’t been able to source recycled and recyclable postal boxes that fit three of our coffee packs snugly. So until we do, the quantities we’re offering are 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8. -
14. Why is my order arriving in separate deliveries?
At the moment, our postal boxes hold quantities of 1, 2 and 4 boxes of 10 capsules. As such, orders comprising a larger quantity may be delivered separately.
